A red-hot, pulse-pounding thrill ride by USA Today bestselling author Bella Jewel!

It’s all part of his sick game. A game he’s been planning for an entire decade. Now everything is perfect: One woman and one man have been selected. They used to be a couple—and they can no longer stand one another. They are the perfect victims. He doesn’t intend for the game to be easy. He wants to push them to the brink of insanity, to make his hunt real. . .

Lara and Noah have been captured and dumped into a massive wooded area. There’s only one rule in this fatal game: They will have 72 hours to find a way out before a sadistic serial killer begins his hunt . . .But what he never could have expected was the explosive passion that ignites between the two ex-lovers—one that makes them strong. Fierce. And determined to do whatever it takes to escape—and to survive.

72 Hours by Bella Jewel is a sexy, page-turning thrill ride!

Main Characters

·         Lara is the main point of view character. There is a lot of inner monologue and whining. She is a weak character that has no confidence since the death of a family member years ago. It was hard to like her or root for her survival.

·         Noah is the ex-boyfriend that Lara refused to talk to after a misunderstanding. Both main characters have problems communicating with each other and hurt feelings. Noah is an angry man with a desire to protect his ex.

·         Bryce is the antagonist, the serial killer and mastermind behind this hunt. I know I'm not supposed to like the bad guy but he is patient and obviously smart to build his sadistic game. I listened to the audio book for part of this story and the narrator's voice didn't hurt either ;)

Plot

·      The synapsis does a pretty good job explaining what the standalone book is about. 72 Hours starts with Lara out with a friend when Noah enters. Lara is upset, first time she has seen her ex in three months and Noah is with another woman. Tensions build between the two main characters as they refuse to talk to each other over misunderstandings. Brice makes his move drugging the couple and dropping them in the middle of nowhere with a note explaining they have a 72 hour head start before their killer starts hunting them. Lara and Noah must come to terms with their strengths and weaknesses while learning to communicate and trust their partner if they are going to survive. Brice has been planning this game for a decade carefully building his playground which leaves no chance of escape.

Setting- an hour outside Orlando, Florida in a massive wooded area in May.

What did I like about the book?

·         Story progressed nicely over the course of a week. Some character building. I liked the cat and mouse game. The fear, injuries, and fight for survival were all believable.

What did I not like about the book?
  • There was a couple of random sex scenes in the middle of all the drama that felt a little out of place. Also the villain of the story liked to talk a lot.
